WHAT  IS  TUINA?

TuiNa Massage is a Chinese therapeutic massage. It’s a manual, hands-on body treatment technique with the goal of promoting health and treating various clinical health conditions. It includes techniques of pushing (Tui) and grasping (Na) of soft body tissue. In China, TuiNa has been used for more than 2,000 years. The name “TuiNa” came about during the Ming dynasty (1368 – 1644 CE).

Our TuiNa Massage practitioners practice TuiNa techniques together with traditional Swedish massage techniques such as brushing, kneading, pushing, pulling, rolling, stretching, pressing, shaking, tapotement (percussion), acupressure , and rubbing. The fundamental idea behind our TuiNa treatment is to stimulate the body’s immunity mechanisms, unblock the meridians to promote the free flow of circulation through the meridians, muscles, and other body tissues.

TuiNa treatment is primarily used to treat neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Today, it's also applied with other allied health disciplines to assist healing of broader conditions such as bone fractures and joint dislocations.

Usually, TuiNa treatments are performed with clothes on. The patient should wear loose and comfortable clothes to facilitate the exposure of an area that may require direct skin contact.

In our clinic, all our registered  massage therapists can provide traditional TuiNa massage and Western Swedish massage. Depending on your condition and needs, the treatment can be therapeutical, relaxational or both.
